Reached by phone in Japan where he is competing in a World Cup, Olympic Gold medallist Alex Bilodeau said, “Our Canadian Olympic team could not have achieved success without the support of Own the Podium. We were prepared in every way possible for the Games. I’m thrilled that the Government has recognized the importance of this funding and has enhanced its commitment.”
“As a winter sports organization we are ecstatic at the news. Building on the success of the Games, this renewed and expanded commitment will allow Canada to continue to compete at the top level of sport. Moreover, by leveraging our elite successes both within our National Sport Federations and through programs like Participaction, all Canadians will benefit,” said Judge.
